Chris Newberry and I returned to Margam Park this morning with the promise of fine weather and the Met Office weren’t fooling as the site was bathed in Spring sunshine and sparse cloud. The Chiffchaffs continued to sing in the woodland and of the three we captured, one was a control (our first of any species for this relatively new site).
Willow Warbler
Of the fourteen birds we captured, the highest proportion were Wrens with six spinning their magic in the nets.
The breakdown of the short morning session was Blackbird 2, Chiffchaff 2 (1), Goldcrest 0 (1), Robin 1, Willow Warbler 1, Wren 5 (1) (retrapped/controlled birds in brackets).
